Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze process regularly to assure efficient and high-quality work.
  • Increase service technician productivity levels.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all customers whether external and internal
  • If technicians are having trouble completing service work in a timely fashion, provide assistance as required to complete the job.
  • Manage the service department so that it provides appropriate levels of profit.
  • Provide cost estimates for body damage and internal repairs.
  • Manage service personnel so that they are adequately trained, alert and available for work. Ensure that jobs are delegated to technicians as appropriate considering skill level. Effectively utilize current resources.
  • Become familiar and proficient with all phases of the computer system needed for parts and service management, developing, and maintaining the skills required.
  • Together with the parts manager, establish an efficient process ensuring a smooth flow of parts to service technicians during jobs.
  • Create and maintain a process to effectively manage warranty, customers paid, and internal repair orders.
  • Require employees to keep the department clean, organized, and efficient.
  • Use professionalism, cordiality, and concern to acquire the trust and confidence of new customers upon their introduction to the service department.
  • When repeat repairs are presented, give special attention as needed to make sure the issue is corrected.
  • Keep to expense and revenue goals as budgeted.
  • Increase the volume of service work through effective management of technicians and processes.
  • Create promotional campaigns in cooperation with the sales and parts departments.
  • Establish and maintain service follow-up programs.
  • Keep performance efficiency reports for service personnel and make them available as required to the General Manager.
  • Stay up to date with service department concerns through attendance at applicable training sessions.
  • Create monthly and annual goals for the service department in cooperation with the general manager.

  • Test-drive vehicle as necessary.
  • Advise customers on the care of their cars and the value of maintaining their vehicles in accordance with the manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Lift the hood of every vehicle and look underneath for potential additional repair needs.
  • If additional work is needed, clearly explain the exact repair instructions, making a special note of the main reason(s) the customer brought the vehicle in. Repair orders must be legible.
  • Notify dispatcher of incoming work.
  • Provide estimates for labor and parts. If the cost of service cannot be established during reception, leave open and contact the customer later for approval.
  • Establish each customer’s method of payment. Obtain approval of credit, if necessary.
  • Obtain customer’s signature on repair order; provide customer with a copy.
  • Follow up progress of each repair order during the day. Contact customer by telephone regarding any changes in the estimate of time promised.  Record changes on repair order in the approved manner.
  • Handle telephone inquiries regarding work in process and appointments.
  • Compare final invoice with original repair order.
  • Analyze quality control report to ensure that work is completed as requested to reduce comebacks.
  • Deliver vehicle to customer and answer any questions.
  • Maintain follow up program on additional items found in need of repair.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Ensure that work areas and customer waiting areas are kept clean.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Receive repair orders from dispatcher and take to stall area.
  • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repair as authorized.
  • Communicate with the Parts Department to obtain the needed parts.
  • Tag and save parts, turn in parts, if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Advise the service advisor immediately if any additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed with the promised time.
  • Document work performed.
  • Road-test vehicles to ensure repair has addressed the customer complaint.
  • Quality check work performed.
  • Attend training classes.
  • Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.
  • Ensure that customers’ vehicles are kept clean.
  • Administer safety and housekeeping policies and procedures.
  • Understand and follow federal, state, and local regulations, governing service repair work.

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, and talk or hear.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift weights up to 100 pounds.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greets customer on sales floor and determines make, type, and quality of vehicle desired.
  • Explains features and demonstrates operation of vehicle in showroom or on road.
  • Suggests optional equipment for customers to purchase.
  • Research availability of models and optional equipment.
  • Consults with Sales Manager when necessary; never allowing a customer to leave without first consulting with a sales Manager.
  • Works with the Sales Manager to compute and quote sales price, including tax, trade-in allowance, license fee, and discount, and requirements for financing payment of vehicle on credit.
  • Prepares all related paperwork and applications (e.g., sales slip, credit application, etc.).
  • Delivers new vehicle to customer. This process ensures that the customer understands the vehicle's operating features, warranty, and paperwork, and it lays the foundation for customer loyalty.
  • Maintains a prospect development system.
  • Remains knowledgeable of new products, features, accessories, etc.
  • Attends sales meetings and training sessions (at various locations) as scheduled.
  • Adheres to Company policies and procedures.
  • Meets, or exceeds, written forecast and projected sales numbers.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Regularly required to stand, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently is required to walk and sit.
  • Is potentially exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles.
